The network consists of four communities:
The Shared Learning Group which deals with:

Solutions. Using the range of Microsoft products, develop and produce practical usable solutions to the ICT requirements to participating SLG members

Efficiencies. By collaborative working with fellow local authorities sharing experiences, create working partnerships across the SLG that produce efficiencies in ICT delivery to public sector projects.

Savings. Use a shared working approach to produce real and demonstrable savings, avoiding duplication, utilising economies of scale. Demonstrate and communicate these savings to the business and customers.

Benefits. As part of the workstream projects, derive real benefits from membership of the group. These will include access to additional resources, expertise from other members, reducing risk and strategic cross-authority procurement after SLG negotiation with suppliers. The SLG will collectively influence Microsoft market focus and it’s responsiveness to local government requirements.

Profile. Raise the awareness of effective ICT delivery internally within the member authorities and also with fellow authorities, established regional groups and importantly, the IT media across the UK.

It includes information security, compliance, data quality assurance and records management.
